Enjoy diving safely

When I got my PADI diving certificate, I do not feel comfortable. My ears were painful. I did not know how to balance myself well. I got separated from the team during the final sight seeing dive because I suddenly found myself floating up and too far from the groups. Rather than joining them, I decided to return to the surface.

I did not feel as much fun diving deep because there is too little light. The appearances of the fishes and corals are different from what we see in pictures. I was well aware of this, because I met a Korean girl diver at Lahad Datu airport who told me about this. We need powerful lights to take these colourful photos. That would be troublesome for me who just want to have fun in the water. It is better to stick to shallow depths. Less than 5 meters, the place where we are supposed to wait for 3 minutes for safety reasons when we dive long and deep. It is shown in the table but better to be more cautious rather than risky.

In the dive training, there are many of us. We were given a manual to read at night, but the instructor concentrate more on the practical aspects of diving. Only some aspects of the diving is shown to us. I cannot even remember whether I knew how to interpret the PADI dive table. Refer to the instruction below.

https://www.instructables.com/Reading-Dive-Tables/

"Safety Stop Required" (gray boxes) - this means you must stop at 15 feet for 3 minutes before surfacing.

If you read the table, you should notice the depth is 100 ft or 30 m when you need to stop. To dive to this depth, you need to take the Advanced Open Water course, but I do not like the idea of diving too deep. Too risky with little recreational value. I recommend we stick to shallow depths.

If you dive less than  35 feet, you can dive up to 10 minutes, which is the limit for the 1 litre scuba tank. You should be in the pressure group A. The surface time is less than 3 minutes.

You may use medical oxygen to fill the 1 litre scuba tank but try to read the information in the Nitrox certification guide.

There are two myths that are doubtful in view of the oxygen therapy.

Myth 2 - It reduces your gas consumption.

Myth 3 - Nitrox allows you to dive with less fatigue.

These myths could be due to the low concentration of oxygen used making the difference so low to be detectable.

If you use medical oxygen concentration of almost 100%, some benefits can be extracted.

Watch 12:48. He claims to experience the benefits of oxygen therapy when using Nitrox.

The Open Water Diver Manual from PADI as well as my instructor did not really explain in detail the various methods of equalising pressures which made my ears painful. The best advice that I learn from the following Youtube is to not to continue to dive if we cannot equalise our ear pressures.
